3) What is the most useful aspect of the NAAA web pages?
- Have access to phone numbers
- Looking at pics
- Checking up on meetings
- Electronic phonebook (3 responses)
- Meeting Notes (2 responses)
- Updates/new announcements
- The up-to-date announcements, and the alum resources have the potential to be very useful.
- I am particularly interested in the grad school info.
- Organized links to NAAA information..."one-stop shopping"
- Having EASY ACCESS to contact information, projects, etc.
- Keeping people up-to-date on what is happening and the opportunities that are available. At specific points during a career, the alumni resources will be particularly useful.
- Don't know...
- The links to the Academies and Space Grants. And the phone book
- The new stuff like contact info on friends
- Contact info
- Alumni resources and electronic phonebook
- You all do a great job of keeping the web page full of up-to-date information about what's going on in the NAAA. I love the newsletter idea- and Dave K. has done a great job coordinating it. The whole page in general is organized well, and is easy to navigate around.
- Alumni resources
- Announcements; Status of the alumni; Electronic phonebook
- The up to date announcements and the electronic phonebook and the Employment Opportunities link.
- General announcements; alumni resources; working groups
- To keep in touch with alumni
- Keeping the members up to date on NAAA activites. It also gives the members that are in a more remote area (like Nebraska) the sense that we are still a part of NAAA
- It gives me the opportunity to see what's going on with my old friends and introduces me to new ones.
4) What is the least useful?
- Projects - because i don't work on any of them
- Can't really tell
- I never look at the finances, but that's just me probably.
- I haven't thought about it!
- I think everything you have there will be useful at one time or another.
- Don't know...
- Meeting minutes.
- Not sure but it was hard to finsd the app link
- Nothing yet
- I have had a lot of trouble using the electronic phonebook. Several times, I've tried to update my own information and failed because I don't have a password. I sent email to request one, and never recieved one. Also, I can't even find myself in the database when I do a search using only my name and Academy year.
- Everything is useful
- n/a
- Don't think anything on web page is not useful.
- Can't think of anything
- Difficulty of phonebook use
- It seems to be pretty graphics intensive, but that is probably just a slow web connection.
- Dunno
- I don't have enough time to browse the pages as much as I would like to since I don't have internet access at work....and I end up working a lot.
5) What is your overall rating of the usefulness of the NAAA web pages in providing a service to the alumni?
- Outstanding -- 6 responses
- Excellent -- 10 resonses
- Above Average -- 4 responses
- Average -- 2 response
- Below Average -- 0 responses
- Horrible -- 0 responses
- Can't give a fair, educated answer -- 2 responses
6) Please let us know if there is anything you would like to contribute to the NAAA web pages or something you would like to see offered:
- Have a quick reference list showing all the names of Academy attendees, what year they attended and where.
- A sub-section of alumni resources or other area with links to PI, staff, academian (?) personal/project web pages
- Like I said above, the alum resources have the potential to be very useful -- if more schools and more details about graduate programs were incorporated, and if company details and contacts at different companies were listed, I would use it all the time!
- I'd like to see a large section devoted to helping users make decisions/get info about grad schools. Personal stories and experiences are helpful.
- Nope
- Phil had a homepage for SAI...did the individual acamdey pages (I know SAII had a better one) get linked?
- Not that I can think of right now.
- Here's an idea...I was in the GSFC '97 Academy and I know that all the previous GSFC Academies had a web page that included the profiles for everyone in that years Academies. Maybe you could put a link to those pages so we can look up people.
- Easier acess to personal web pages of alumni
- Somebody should give that Chris Lewicki guy a pat on the back...
7) General comments:
- I think you guys have done a brilliant job. it helps me stay connected with the group
- Nice layout, timely updates- a good job all around!
- I have not used it enough to make cogent remarks.
- I think the web page is really progressing well, and looks great. More useful information (such as what I wrote in (6)) would make it not only aesthetically appealing, but practical too. Thanks for all your hard work in making the NAAA better!
- You're doing a great job, keep up the good work.
- It's great...I linked to it from my resume web page.
- The black background can make it difficult to read small text (esp in red or other dark colors). I don't necessarily recommend changing everything now, but if we make any changes in the future it might be something to keep in mind. It might be nice to have at the bottom of the intro. page another link to the NASA Academy program pages, and a link to the general NASA page (it seems like we get a lot of hits from people who think they are on a NASA page from some of the comments/membership forms I have been seeing.)
- The electronic phonebook can be a valuable resource, and I think everyone needs to be included in it. A minor comment about it: the NASA Center and Academy year field should be consistent with the example that is given (GSFC 1993) and should not begin with a roman numeral.
- Great work on the web pages. I really want to get active with the NAAA, so as soon as I get a job and settle down out of school and directing the Dryden Academy this summer I will get involved.
- I don't do much web surfing, so don't stress about my comments.
- Looks great! Everytime I visit there is always something new.
- I love the pictures, too!
- I think that the initial frame should have easier access to the main features via a frame or list on the left side of the window.
- I like this idea of the survey. This should be done for the web page once a year.
- The electronic phonebook is very hard to use. It would be nice if the default was to look through all records and give back any that matched the word you wrote in the field, even if it is partially complete. So if I type Gold in the name, I would get david Goldstein. It took me a while to find me, and I know how to spell my name. None of the following entries find me: tali, Enectali, Figueroa, *tali, tali*. I think all these should come up with my name. I was trying to find Laura Burns, and I could not do it.
- I would like to be involved more with NAAA, but I really don't have much experience with web pages and am somewhat isolated from NAAA activites
- This site is fresh.
- You guys have really done an absolutley incredible job! It's "just right" :).
