Reinstatement of Marshall Space Flight Center Academy
As many of you might know, there has been a moratorium placed on the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) NASA Academy program for this year. Unfortunately, at this time, it is not clear when the program will be reinstituted, if at all. Many concerned alumni have come together to form a working group within the NAAA to generate ideas as to what we as alumni can do to save the MSFC program. Our goal is to get the program reinstated for the summer of 1999. The group's main focus right now is to initiate a letter campaign. To this end, we ask that alumni from all the NASA Academy programs send a letter to the following MSFC administrators letting them know what a profound effect the NASA Academy program has had on its participants. We know most of you have benefited from the program and have wonderful memories to share. The intent of this letter campaign is to focus on these experiences so that the administration can see how important the program is for the students involved. We are hoping that not only MSFC alumni but alumni from all the centers will participate to show that NASA Academy is a unifed NASA-wide program. So, what do you as alumni have to do? Simply select the information form and sample letter below. One that page, you will see a sample letter along with instructions on what to do. Even if you choose not to send a letter, please take a few moments to fill out the form. Thank you so much for helping with this campaign. We hope with everyone sending letters, the administration will take notice. It will also show that the alumni and the NASA Academy Alumni Association can make a difference! We will be building on your letters with phone calls and other persuasive tactics, but the letter campaign is the heart of the whole effort. If you have any comments or questions please email us at msfc-alumni@nasa-academy.org Good luck writing your letters and thanks!
