KIS Headquarters PO Box 1345 Harvey, LA 70059 Dear Parent, We would like to introduce you to an exciting new program called "Kids In Space." In an effort to stimulate creativity and increase American school-age students' knowledge of space and science, the NASA Academy Alumni Association invites students to submit original works on space-related topics. The first 20,000 students who submit a qualified entry will have their full name launched into space on the Space Shuttle. We hope this will inspire students' interest in space and spark a passion for future involvement. Selected entries will be published in an anthology to increase the general public's awareness of space and to highlight the children's participation in KIS. The NASA Academy Alumni Association members are graduates of the NASA Academy. The NASA Academy is a ten week summer program for college students studying science and engineering who demonstrate an interest in space and who have the potential to be leaders in these fields. We hope that you and your students/children will participate in the Kids In Space project. Enclosed are instructions for submitting entries, as well as a selection of space-related educational materials. Please feel free to contact KIS Headquarters if you have any questions.
