How to get involved with the NAAA

There are many ways you can become involved with the NAAA:

  1. Run for the Executive Council
  2. There are three ways to become involved with the Executive Council.
    1. Become an Executive Council (EC) officer
    2. The EC provides the leadership and overall direction of the efforts, affairs, and operations in support of the mission of the NAAA. As a member of the Executive Council, you will play a crutial role in the NAAA accomplishing its goals. For a description of the duties of the EC officer positions, see Section 2.2 of the Bylaws.
    3. Become a Special Project chair
    4. These positions are appointed by the EC and report directly to one of the EC officers. The Special Project Chairs we have so far are:
      • Membership Chair: Mike Moreau (GSFC '94, GSFC staff '95)

  3. Participate in a Working Group
  4. A Working Group is formed to help the Executive Council accomplish the goals of the NAAA. A message is usually sent to the news mailing list by the Executive Council requesting volunteers to help out with and one person to lead a major effort that the organization is about to undertake.
  5. Continue an Academy group project
  6. The NAAA allows a group of alumni to continue a group project that was started during the summer by providing a mechanism to raise and distribute funds and to tap into the other alumni for help.
  7. Develop your own idea or project and present it to the group
  8. If you feel that the NAAA should be doing something that it is not, feel free to notify the Executive Council that you have an idea for something that the NAAA should be doing and then you can lead a group of alumni to accomplish the goal.
  9. Help with minor NAAA-related tasks that come up throughout the year
  10. From time to time, the Executive Council or one of the Working Groups have tasks that need to be accomplished that requires someone spending as little as a few hours. Usually a message is sent to the alumni chat mailing list asking for volunteers to help. If you are interested in helping with the following tasks that need to be done, please e-mail naaa@nasa-academy.org
  11. Make a financial donation
  12. Although there are no required yearly dues, by making a donation you will help the NAAA accomplish its goals during the year. As with any organization, some of the things the NAAA needs to do require money. We have had donations as small as $10 and as large as $170 and every little bit helps so give as much or as little as you can. You can send your donations to:
    NASA Academy Alumni Association, Inc.
                        60 Wadsworth Street Apt. 6C
                        Cambridge, MA 02142
The NAAA welcomes your feedback. Please let us know what you think the NAAA should be doing by sending an e-mail message to naaa@nasa-academy.org.
