1999 Annual Alumni Conference

The 1999 Annual Alumni Conference will be held in combination with Mars Week, which is the first confernce organized by ThinkMars. ThinkMars is a group of MIT students that has developed a business concept for the human exploration of Mars.

  • "Students and Space" - evening event for students to learn about opportunities in the space industry, and local and national space organizations

The following Items are planned to take place

1. NAAA 3rd Annual Congress

2. UNISPACE III SGF Update/Discussion Group
Several alumni attended and served as delegates to UNISPACE III's SGF, which was organized by ISU for the United Nations. Andrew Hoppin has agreed to provide an update at the Annual Event. In addition, a group discussion based on a few HOT topics from the SGF is under consideration.

3. Mars Workshop - "Let's talk about Mars" discussing a variety of
Mars-related topics, with participation
by students, invited speakers and faculty.

- mission architectures
- colonization strategies
- funding and marketing strategies
- terraforming techniques
- construction techniques
- public and congressional outreach development
