NAAA 2002 Annual Event was held in conjunction with the World Space Congress in Houston, Texas. This years event celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the NASA Academy, and consisted of the fifth annual NAAA congress, a roundtable discussion on the future of the NAAA, and a banquet in Galveston with keynote speaker Rick Hieb (former NASA astronaut). This year's activities were held in conjunction with the Space Frontier Conference 9. The annual event consisted of the fourth annual NAAA congress and a banquet at Wolfgang Puck Restaurant with keynote speaker Story Musgrave (former NASA astronaut).
This year's activities included participation in MIT's Mars Week conference and the third annual NAAA Congress.
This year's activities
included an open
house at the home of Dr. Jerry Soffen (NASA Academy founder) and Mrs.Kazuko
Soffen, and a panel
discussion organized by the NAAA to help celebrate NASA's 40th Anniversary
titled "The Next Forty Years: A Vision of Humanity's Future in Space."
In addition, the second
annual NAAA congress was held at Goddard Space Flight Center, and
in lieu of a banquet the participants attended NASA's
40th Anniversary Gala at the National Building Museum.
This year's activities included an open house at the home of Dr. Jerry Soffen (NASA Academy founder) and Mrs. Kazuko Soffen, the first annual NAAA Congress at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), and a NASA Academy five-year anniversary and NAAA kickoff banquet at the National Academy of Sciences with guests from industry, government and academia.
